We’re interviewing Donora on our show this Thursday! Here’s an excerpt from my review of their album so you can get to know them a little:
Donora, a little band based out of Pittsburgh and named after another city in Pennsylvania, has been creating pure indie pop since being semi-finalists on “Calling All Bands,” a 2006 contest sponsored by Myspace and Verizon. Since then they’ve had tracks featured on various guilty pleasure MTV shows such as Engaged and Underage and Cribs. The twinkling pianos that start off songs like “Shh” and “I Think I Like You” only solidify the band into the adorable indie pop genre.

Yeasayer fans say they sound too much like AnCo now, too much pop and not enough weird stuff. I think their videos went the opposite way. Gotta love their theme of messing with people faces [via hoods and mirror faces from Ambling Alp vid and All Hour Cymbals art].
WTSR works day and night to bring you the best in new alternative music. In a band? Know a band? Get us their CD and we’ll see what we can do!

You may be wondering what that picture is. Those my friend, are coffee spoons. Still trying to figure out their significance to the Cold War Kids/if they are different from regular spoons.
John picked you out some new & old emo[tional] music to cry to in your room as midterms take over your lives. We’re happy people in real life, I promise!
